Born To Expire
Soothsayer EP
The Limit Records

'Soothsayer is the absolutely badass debut EP from Auburn, NY's Born to Expire, and I have to assume they're named after the Leeway album, which is always a good sign - even if they don't sound like Leeway! Expect crushing metallic hardcore that spices up the traditional power chord rhythms and chugging midpaced breaks with some dense, sludge-laden grooves and cold, crawling dissonance. The recording on this thing is heavy as shit, too. I've never heard basslines this effectively loud before in my life! I swear the bass must be mixed dead even with the guitars, if not a touch louder. And I love it! I hope they maintain that balance on all of their future recordings, 'cause it makes the riffs - which are already superfuckin' meaty - hit even harder. The overall feel of this stuff kind of reminds me of the mighty Dead City, which is also always a good sign. According to the dude from the band who sent me the EP, their new material is hinting at a little more of a Crowbar influence, which could be really cool hearing how those types of runs already seep into these tracks. Hell, there are moments herein that damn near touch on doom metal vibes, so... who knows how far they'll take such elements down the road? Whatever the case, this is a killer start, and I'm really looking forward to hearing more.'- Aversionline (www.aversionline.com)

Long time contributors to the underground punk and metal scenes the guys in BRAINOIL have put in time over the past 20 years in bands like GRIMPLE, DESTROY, LAUDANUM, STORMCROW and others. This debut from 2003 originally was released on the mighty Life is Abuse label and the sound is Sludge. The punk and hardcore influences take this beyond stoner rock. This is for fans of thick ass heavy down tuned riffs, riffs, more riffs and some riffs atop those riffs. Tankcrimes is stoked to bring this beast back to the public after 5 long years out of print, with a download card included.

Bratpack
Hate The Neighbours CD
Crucial Attack Records

Hailing from the eastern part of The Netherlands comes a band that you would expect from the western and sunny side of California. The band started in 2006 and not long after that they recorded a demo which was well received by critics and fans. Playing festivals such as Light The Fuse / Trashfest and also attending the 5 year anniversary for Punx.nl shows that this band is not just a punkrock band but lots more. With ex- and current members of Beans, Antillectual, My Reply and Citizens Patrol they have a wide variety of musicians in the band and that's something you distinctly hear in their sound. Influences vary from the melodic sounds of Nofx ( take note off the melodic guitar intros), Bad Religion, No Use For A Name but with a harder edge than any of these bands using influences of hardcore bands such as RKL, Stalag 13, 7 seconds en old New York and DC hardcore bands like Minor Threat and Urban Waste. In 2007 their demo was re-released by Gummopunx / Misspelled Youth and Pick-up records. Not long after that they started to record a full-length album which is now ready to be released and to be played all summer. Brat Pack delivers 13 songs of full excitement and loads of melodies which will have you dancing in no time and also set a standard for the next generation of punkrock bands to come Hate The Neighbours was released on May 6 2008 on Crucial Attack, Dirty Faces and Ha-Ko Bastards.

Breakdown
The '87 Demo LP
540 Records

540 Records and Painkiller have teamed up once again to bring you the other half of the legendary "Breakdown; Both Demos" series: the legendary '87 demo. Breakdown's original 1987 lineup was only together for a few short months, but in that time they produced one of the most legendary and influential recordings in the history of New York hardcore. Paving the way for every hard and heavy band to follow, Breakdown's take on hardcore was balanced with the perfect mix of hip hop's bounce, the power and dynamics of heavy metal and an unmistakable New York accent laced across a tough, streetwise sound that could only have come out of 1980s New York City. This LP contains the full, nine-song '87 demo, released here for the first time on vinyl in its entirety, backed with a crushing live set recorded on WNYU radio's Crucial Chaos during the summer of 1987. Both recordings have been faithfully restored from original sources and sound better than ever. Includes a full-color, 12" x 24" poster insert with extensive notes and anecdotes from members of the NYHC scene.
