Retard Picnic LP
Boss Tuneage Records

THE STUPIDS were the legendary UK Hardcore Punk pioneers who, in three short years from 1984 to 1987 went from 4 track demos to the front cover of NME and Sounds and Indie Number 1 Chart albums. The first hardcore band to record a session for the John Peel Show, to openly embrace US Hardcore punk within their sound and style, THE STUPIDS paved the way for the whole UKHC scene and "Britcore" explosion that followed. The Godfathers of UK Skate Punk now finally get the reissues their back catalogue deserves, and the first time any STUPIDS reissues have been done with the complete involvement and backing of the band themselves. Four years in the making, the six part STUPIDS discography series with the bonus unreleased tracks and packaging making them the must-own versions for any hardcore punk fan.

Sulphur
Thorns In Existence CD
Dark Essence Records

Comprising members with a history from bands like Gorgoroth, Aeternus, Enslaved and Vulture Industries, Sulphur is a force to be reckoned with. The band arose from the ashes of the nineties BM outfit Taakeriket at the turn of the millennium, intent to follow a path set between death and black metal, spiced up with a progressive mindset. As a quartet they recorded the demo "A Relic For The Damned" in October 2000. This lead to playing live support for Aeternus and a slot at the Hole In The Sky Festival 2001. After a couple of dormant years Sulphur returned to life in 2005, this time with a reinforced line-up and their second demo "Outburst Of Desecration". This demo lead to a deal with Osmose Productions and the band started to work on their debut album. Following a second Hole In The Sky festival performance in 2005 the band entered the studio to record "Cursed Madness". The album was released to great reviews in 2007. Sulphur anno 2009 are fiercer and more chalenging then ever. There are few boundaries for what musical landscapes the band is willing to explore. The resulting album, Thorns In Existence, is an infernal and avant-gardish album willing to challenge, thrill and destroy the listener. Produced by Bjørnar Erevik Nilsen in Conclave & Earshot Studios (Helheim, Taake, The Batallion etc.) ensures that the album has the powerfull sound the music deserves.

Sunpower
Bondage LP
Crucial Attack Records

The new record of Belgium's Sunpower is now available. Bondage was recorded in 2 days and mixed in 2 evenings, as a punk record should be and gives us 10 new songs with the genuine Sunpower sound… Don't expect any weird chord progressions, it's what you could expect of Sunpower, hardcore punk reminding of bands like Dead Kennedy's, Minor Threat and Angry Samoans, played with furious energy and fast paced lyrics that deal with subjects as Guantanamo Bay, rednecks and leather boots. Bondage is the third record of Sunpower and, as cliché as it might sound, their most mature to date. The record comes in a few variations, there's the 12" coming on 33RPM with on both sides 10 songs and there's some limited colored vinyl of this one available too, but be fast for those! Then there's also a 45RPM edition, limited to 200 copies and this has 5 songs on each side. The CD contains 4 bonustracks of the so-called Westvleteren sessions. For those unfamiliar with Sunpower yet, it was the summer of 2002. The queen mother dies, Everybody's still fucked over by the 9/11 airplanes crash, 200 people are killed during a bomb-attack on the island of Bali and a little country called Belgium hasn't changed a bit since the Wilfried Martens, Jean Luc Dehaene, Guy Verhofstad administration. Mike Dubois, a real punkrock dude from the old school remembers the time that he was playing in a fast forward, no-nonsense band called "Les Stroumphs Alcooliques". He remembers those times and says: "those were the days". He picks up his guitar, calls his former bassplayer Gerd Vanhoof and find Jerre, an old-time friend who just bought himself a drumset. They finish 7 songs and record short after it. Fast fucked up songs for fast fucked up people: "BACK TO BASICS"', which also became the title of their first EP, released in April 2003. After a short while Mike became sick of playing the guitar and Jerre left the band to become a duathlon legend. Sunpower picked up Davy and Kevin, fucked up loners from the younger generation and the rest became history.

Swingin' Utters
Hatest Grits: B-Sides And Bullshit LP
Fat Wreck Records

A long time stalwart of the street punk genre, the SWINGIN' UTTERS have amassed an impressive discography since their first release in 1992. Consisting of 8 full-lengths and countless EP's, singles, and splits, their catalog is a testament to the prolific songwriting abilities of Darius Koski and Johnny Bonnel. Despite the sheer volume of their extensive resumé, the UTTERS have managed to compile 26 more tracks to make up their latest release, Hatest Grits: B-Sides and Bullshit. As implied by the title, the album contains plenty of rare b-sides, but it doesn't stop there. Hatest Grits also boasts five unreleased songs, as well as some never before heard demo versions of SWINGIN' UTTERS classics. You didn't hear it from us, but it's even rumored to have six bonus songs that don't appear in the official track listing. Clearly, Hatest Grits is a must have album for any of the SWINGIN' UTTERS' legion of faithful fans. Throughout their illustrious career the UTTERS have consistently drawn comparisons to punk legends Stiff Little Fingers and folk icons The Pogues; each of the 26 songs on Hatest Grits are a shining example of why.
